Respect

Modern society lacks possitive expressions of respect and recognition for others. They generally fail to convey mutual regard and recognition accross some boundaries. Occurs not simply because of arbitrary inequalities like poor, sick or old but also intractable inequalites, such as differences of talent..and perhaps, …differences of taste (?)..gender (?)

Whatever those that reflect the temper of our time are, for sure, (as I’m parroting R. Sennett words -which I fully agree); lack of respect, though less agressive than an outright insult, can take equal wounding form.

Or perhaps….hurts even worse?
