I was reading through Miller-Harris site when I found a quite interesting word ( here ). A word that I couldn’t help keep wondering about; Bespoke
What does actually "bespoke" means? I thought It was a term for custom made funitures (only). Then, I rashly open my dictionary and here what I found:
Bespoke literally means: custom made
Eg: (of Clothes) made specially according to the individual customer’s requirements: a bespoke suit. - Oxford Dictionary -
How about wikipedia? you can check it out here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bespoke
So basically, this "bespoke" word can be use for any product that base on individual customer’s requirements. Can be furniture (ah..jadi inget pak ‘No), Suit dan dress (duh..jadi inget bu ‘Man dan Wayunda), Software, and many more..including fragrance!
Bespoke fragrance.. it sounds so intriguing and unique isn’t it?
As if bespoke suits has to be created by tailors or designers..and bespoke furnitures has to be created by carpenters..so bespoke fragrances need to be created by perfumers and the high quality one in this field are so called "The Noses".
The high quality "Noses" must have (not only) gifted-talented-sensible nostrils, but they also have to practice such a dicipline to take care of their magnificent ability to smell and trained for years in fragrance academy. Nowadays, there are less than 50 "Noses" in this world.
Everybody has it’s unique "fragrance"..and therefore, a suitable "fragrance" can be added to extend the sensation due to individual chemistry. Does "Hermes Elixir des Merveilles" makes drive your mind to your kitchen since it’s note has chocolate-covered candied orange peel, caramel and vanilla biscuits taste? .. May be, for you "Channel No 5" has too much ylang-ylang ?(ps: ylang-ylang = bunga kenanga, kenal dong ya?) Is "Sicily" too sweet for your skin?..or "Omnia" is simply to dry for your taste? Perhaps you want to pleased yourself with "bespoke" fragrance and register your own fragrance bottle in the world’s fragrance list in the Grasse??
For sure, this question is not for me. oh no! no way baby! That is all the way up too fancy for me..
Frankly, I can’t afford the Nose’s work that might cost me around 70.000 USD…(come on.. I’m talking about the Noses who accept only less than 7-12 clients per year!).
Let alone the prize tag and how their cashier maschine bang-bang you for a bottle of scented things (perfume, lotion, candle or soap? you name it). Knowing just a little bit about their rare-tremendeous profesional work..I can’t see the existence of fragrance the same way like before. Now, my perspective about this field is added with much more so called: "Deep appreciation".
**Current mood: lagi terkagum kagum sama manusia-manusia berhidung emas "The Noses"
